Residents of Middle Earth...

Give Thanks

Whether there are any official celebrations of Thanksgiving or not, everyone is thankful for something, even in Middle Earth! Residents...freeps, creeps and peeps...balrogs...heralds and heraldettes...pets...none are immune. We're all thankful for something, and here's just a little of the slightly offbeat, twisted thanks being given in Middle Earth even now......

Thank You LOTRO Devs

...for daylight hours and most of us sleeping in and resting up, so we can come out in full force during the cover night and darkness when the real haunting begins!

Wight Dread-Warrior, 39

Nan Tornaeth, Trollshaws

...for the /follow command!

Freeps, Creeps and Peeps

...for extra-absorbent diapers that I'm not afraid to wear in public as casual wear...even at my age!!

Ancient Bile-Spewer, 26

Lone-Lands

...for the lack of boars in Evendim. Finally...a stable, solid and desperate market. My pork belly futures are on the rise!

Adso Haybank

CEO of Adso's Camp

...for my earning a reputation...everywhere! I've always "gotten around," but I wasn't so sure that type of reputation was a good thing to get. That is, until the reputation quests came about!

Anonymous Elf

...for non-combat pets. I'm a lover, not a fighter. Besides, animals have always been more loyal companions and friends to me...despite the hairballs they may gift me with on occasion. (At least they're smaller hairballs than the ones my dwarf friends cough up!)

Anonymous Lore-Master

Playing since beta and proud to be...level 26! =p

...for horses, stable-masters, festival horses, horse races...

Elves and Humans

...for ponies! How could you elves and humans forget to mention ponies?! Pfft to the horses! Who needs 'em?! Ponies for the win!

Dwarves and Hobbits

...for nerfs. We love the smell of humility on patch day! =p But we're even more thankful for the non-nerfs. *hint* *hint*

All of us

...for fellowships or fellow leaders that don't immediately go ballistic if a few fellowship maneuvers are missed or messed up.

Me (and probably you, too!)

...for my counterpart brigand females and the shapely, form-fitting armor they wear. Yummy!

Brigand Knave, 8

...for housing. Now that those humanoids are no longer homeless, they're not loitering around my establishment scaring off the paying customers!

Barliman Butterbur

Owner/Proprietor of The Prancing Pony, Bree

...for letting me keep my own stomach last time some rude fellowship attacked me as I was harmlessly enjoying a peaceful, nature-loving hike on a hillside in the Lone Lands. If I didn't want to keep my stomach, I'd be a soo-boarmodel named Sooey!

Sturdy Long-Tusk, 28

Lone-Lands

...for rations, pies, masterful mash, lembas and recipes I can actually read and follow!

Unknown Grandmaster Cook, 14

...for fixing my home, and the maintenance actually being covered by insurance! I was worried I was never going to see my home again...even sober. I still have problems seeing it after a night out of drinking and pipeweed smoking with Gandalf and Frodo in the Shire, but...it really scared me the first time I KNEW I was sober and still couldn't see my Homely Home! For a month or so, I kept thinking my eyesight was going, and I wasn't ready to consider lasik surgery.

Elrond

Homely Home, Rivendell

...for LOTROnian "mini-me's"...aka hobbits and dwarves...that dance!

Elves and Humans

...for LOTROnian "mini-me's"...aka orcs, goblins, elves, humans, hobbits and dwarves...that dance!

Giant-Kind Community

...for giving true meaning to that Hollywood expression "break a leg" as you hear it happen after a long jump, fall or injury sustained...but I'm more thankful for hearing and knowing when it's a humanoid's leg breaking instead of my own!

Horse wishing to remain anonymous

...for Heraldettes (aka female Heralds)! I'd be even more thankful if you could allow us to be summoned together! <3 <3 My Captain would like that, too, but I'd prefer you leave him out of this altogether. =p I want the Heraldette all to myself!

Captain's Herald, 48

...for increasing the occurrences of misty mountain silver ore...only AFTER I'd finished grinding out prospecting and jewelry capabilities on my toons.  At least now with falling prices of ore, I can afford to practice my craft even if I can't sell the resources or finished product as profitably as before!

Random Real Life Person / Account Holder

...for females in Middle Earth, especially the ones played by real life females. *drool*

Majority of the male population of Middle Earth

...for males in Middle Earth, especially the ones played by real life females. Oh, alright, and for the ones played by real life males, too...especially if they can heal, rez or mez. (However, I'm not thankful though for those that make me bow to them without my permission! Griefers! I am woman. You should bow to me...to me, I said, to me!!)

Majority of the female population of Middle Earth

...for my own elite masterfulness being officially recognized!

Bleakwind, 33 (Elite Master) and a level 50 delusional hobbit

And we're still thankful for more...

...for those quickie little errand quests that earn us easy XP and/or quest completions from time to time. You like us! You really like us!

...for embarrassing deaths...whether they're yours, mine or someone else's. After all, we've all had "those" moments and it's good to be able to laugh about them with others.

...for voice chat. Who knew Middle Earth could have so many distinct accents?! Y'all? Hello. Hey. Hihi. Hiya. Hola. Guten Tag! Harro noob! Whaddup? How you doin'...?!

...for hardcore gamers who teach us things we didn't know...especially if they can do it without harping or yelling at us for not being hardcore enough to know all the nuances of the "little things." And those same hardcore gamers still having fun even when we struggle to grasp their teachings.

...for non-hardcore gamers who know the fun to be had even in mere exploration or experimentation...so long as that experimentation does not involve trolls, giants, fire-worms or highly aggressive mutant elite overgrown turtles.

...for diversity...in quests, classes, professions, experiences, skills and even in the nerfs, too!

...for lore, story, graphical beauty and detail, brigand females, fat dead guys in diapers...and so much more we couldn't possibly all cover in one single page.

Plus, we're thankful for what's to come yet......Just remember one thing: we're most thankful for content and non-nerfs, so if you could...try to leave the nerfs the same place you put the boars in Evendim. (Nowhere!*grin*)
